North Fayette Sue Thoms informed school board members Monday that the district has paid of its $1.47 million bond for the Performing Arts Center (PAC) in West Union.

Members of the North Fayette community officially recognized the start of construction of the 15,200-sq.-ft. addition on April 10, 2006. A grand opening for the $3.2 million project took place in September 2007.

Later, the school board approved summer renovation/construction projects.

In addition to the previously approved West Union Elementary security entrance, board members approved a high school parking lot lighting project with Walvatne Electric in the amount of $41,000.

In addition, the small parking lot located north of the high school will be resurfaced and expanded to include an additional row of spaces. Leslie Lauer & Sons will carry out the project in the amount of $6,955.

Aylsworth House Movers and Cline Construction will also transport/remodel a portable building from Fayette Middle School to the high school in West Union in the amount of $23,075.

Earlier, the school board approved the following fees for the 2013-2014 school year:

• Textbooks – Pre-kindergarten through grade six, $45 (no change); high school, $55, ($5 increase); computer damage co-op fee, $35 ($10 increase).

• Instrumental rent – Instrument, $47.50; percussion, $32.50 (no change).

• Driver’s education – $325 ($25 increase).

• NF preschool tuition – $3.10 per hour for extra hours at West Union Elementary.

• Approved installation of additional security cameras at the high school north door and West Union Elementary in the amount of an estimated $3,000.
