Kayla Meitner and Brendan Erickson exchanged wedding vows in a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, June 8, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado. Pastor Ginny Olson officiated.
Kayla is the daughter of Mark and Kristi Meitner of West Union. Brendan is the son of Elizabeth Ott of Hawkeye and Bryan Erickson of Independence.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless, fitted satin gown featuring a sweetheart neckline. The ruching of the embellished bodice extended to the hips, where it was gathered to a rhinestone brooch and then flowed into a sweeping train. She carried a cascading bouquet of red roses and gladiolus with rhinestone-adorned stephanotis.
The maid of honor was Liz Koester, cousin of the bride, of Eldorado. Bridesmaids were Karissa and Kerrin Meitner, sisters of the bride, of West Union; Bryanna Erickson of Eldorado and Belinda Erickson of West Union, sisters of the groom; and Katie Steinlage, friend of the couple, of Eldorado.
The attendants wore knee-length, strapless dresses of cranberry-red satin, each with a black sash.
Lydia Koch, cousin of the bride, served as the flower girl.
The bride chose Emily Knapp, Alicia Faust and Dani Dohlman as her personal attendants.
Eric Begalske of Hawkeye was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Luke Koester, cousin of the bride, of Manchester; Andy Dunt of West Union, Jason Grimes of Eldorado, Nic Schulmeister of Nora Springs, and Joe Woltzen of Hawkeye, all friends of the groom.
The ring bearer was Logan Gefaller, cousin of the bride.
The guests were seated by Abby Burkhart, Crystal Anfinson, and Cassie Cannon.
Vocalist Liz McDonough and pianist Sue Updegraff provided music for the ceremony.
Seated at the guest book were Julie Lenth and Bethany Meitner.
Following the ceremony, a reception and dance were held at the Festina Community Center.
The bride is a 2008 graduate of North Fayette High School and a 2012 graduate of Wartburg College. She is currently employed at Michael Insurance in West Union.
The groom also graduated from North Fayette High School in 2008. He is currently employed at Rupp Air Management Systems in West Union.
Brendan and Kayla reside in Hawkeye.
