Lady Warriors top TV, 3-0
The South Winn volleyball team rolled over the Trojans Thursday at home, 3-0, with little difficulty.
In game one, Megan Hageman served up five points for the Lady Warriors before she was stopped, but three serves later it was Becca Franzen who pushed SW to a 13-4 advantage at the service line. Carrying the momentum, South Winn rolled over Turkey Valley, 25-18, in the first game.
The Lady Warriors struggled a bit in set two and were forced to overcome a 12-5 deficit. However, they did so with point-on serving by Carlee Knutson, who brought SW to within one at 13-12. As the game continued, the Trojans fought back and regained a 22-20 advantage, but Megan Elsbernd’s kill put SW in the driver’s seat, and Hageman wrapped up the game, 25-23, at the service line.
Similar to set two, the third one was a tight contest early on, but fell in the Lady Warriors favor midway through the set as South Winn cruised to a 25-20 victory.
Junior Brittany Shindelar topped the kill chart with 11 slams; Warth added nine and Micole Lansing, five.
Dishing out 30 assists in the SW victory was Franzen, and Hageman collected a team-high 10 digs.
